How to Fix Copyright - William Patry
Tuesday, 3 April 2012 from 13:00 to 14:00 (BST)
London, United Kingdom
Bill Patry is in the UK to talk about his latest book: How to fix copyright. He is a leading US copyright scholar and lawyer, and doesn't mince his words!
Expect an exciting and provocative view of what's wrong, who's wrong, and why.
Patry served as a copyright counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives in the early 1990s, where he participated in the elaboration of the copyright provisions of the Uruguay Round Agreements Act. Patry also worked as a policy planning advisor to the Register of Copyrights, and held a post as Professor of Law at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He is also the author of a seven volume treatise on U.S. copyright law entitled Patry on Copyright, arguably superior in breadth and depth to Nimmer's Nimmer on Copyright. Patry is Senior Copyright Counsel at Google.
When & Where
Open Rights Group
The digital age is transforming society: bringing us greater democracy, transparency and new creative possibilities. When these freedoms are under attack, the Open Rights Group is there to defend them. Founded in 2005 by 1,000 digital activists, ORG has become the UK’s leading voice defending freedom of expression, privacy, innovation, consumer rights and creativity on the net.
Getting into the political trenches in the UK and EU, we mobilise our supporters to stop bad laws. Working closely with other campaign groups, we lobby government and talk to the media whenever our rights are threatened.
ORG is a non-profit company funded by donors, mostly by people like you. We depend on regular contributions to run and win our campaigns.
